8800 on T-Mo Website

It is in the upgrade phone area and lists for $469.99 with a 2 year extension...

They can keep it at that price...

psm1005 04-23-2007 07:48 AM

Really? For me is had $349 with contract $549 without.

LunkHead 04-23-2007 07:50 AM

Odd..... I have not done a phone upgrade on the line I selected in over 2 years..... Even $349 is to much.... If it were $249 I'd have to kick the idea of getting it around... BUT $349 is a bit much with the 8300 series around the corner...

test54 04-23-2007 08:03 AM

299 with cingulr, should they be trying to compete a little? thats a lot of $$

armandov99 04-23-2007 08:25 AM

Shows up as $469.99 with a 2-year for me, and I'm out of contract this month. That's the worst deal I've ever seen, all I can do is laugh at that price. For that much I'm either going to eBay or switching to Cingular and picking up the 8800 for $149 on amazon. $470 is absolutely ridiculous...don't know what they're thinking.

[IFC]Area51 04-23-2007 08:41 AM

Well, i have two accounts. One shows the upgrade price at $349.99 and the other at $469.99.

Im gonna think about it cause if the 8300 serie comes out, " it might not" have gps. The 8800 is the only gps capable phone at the time and i definitelly might need that as well as going to courts with a camera less device. $349.99 aint THAT bad. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed..... it's all theirs to keep and behold....

Baggman 04-23-2007 08:45 AM

I'm not interested in the 8800 (if the 8320 comes out), but went into My-T-Mobile to see the upgrade price and it was $469 like some others. I'm guessing the 8320 will have a ridiculous upgrade amount, too? Good thing I love my 8700.

True, but depending on the features (wifi, gps, camera) the 83xx might be worth the price.... At $469 with a 2 year extension for the 8800, T-Mo has lost their minds!!!!

test54 04-23-2007 09:10 AM

well i wonder if they put it up that high to make the 8300 look like a better buy at the 300-400 range?

and if the 83xx has those extra features,
then they will be killing their 8800 sales.

I don't believe $469 is the correct price if your account is ready for an upgrade. There is an error with your MyTmobile account and I bet you could get it for $349 if you called Tmobile. $349 is the same price paid for the 8700g when it first came out and would be an appropriate price if we didn't know about the 8320.

LunkHead 04-23-2007 09:37 AM

I *think* the T-Mo version 8800 is geared toward corporate and the 8300 will be geared toward consumers... I only say this because the 8300 is rumored to have a camera (a no no to most businesses) and wifi....

Yeesh -- not again. They're for different niches. It seems like it should be obvious but consumers aren't the only people who buy BB's, y'know?

You are correct... I called and one of my five lines was qualified for the upgrade at full discount. It was a mix up on their end as i had checked the line I knew was eligible.... They quoted me the $349 and said it was their mistake.... What to do... I was all set in holding out for the 83xx but the new BB bug is hitting me hard

By the time the 8300 is out I will have another line eligible for full upgrade,,,,,

I know they are for different niches but seems like everyone is complaining how expensive these are and what will be the price of the 83xx. If the 83xx comes with a camera then sure its out of the question but without a camera it seems like it wouldn't be all that different than the 8800? Sorry to hit on something your sick of hearing, I know that but the pricing seems strange, thats all.

anyways seems like people are getting them for 349 now anyways.

Outrigger 04-23-2007 09:45 AM

Upgrade meaning you are already with Tmo? I'm currently looking to switch to Tmo, so I assume that for a new customer, would it be the $350 or the $469?

mymitsu3kgt 04-23-2007 09:47 AM

New customer would get it for $350.

LunkHead 04-23-2007 09:49 AM

With T-Mo you get lower upgrade prices after 11 months of service without an upgrade and a even better upgrade price at the 22 month mark without an upgrade.... The line in question is my sons line (a razr) that had not been upgraded in 2 1/2 years so i new it was eligable for the full discounted upgrade price....

Did any of that make sense???? lol

What to do, what to do...... *shake*, [shiver], #sweat#..... *shake*, [shiver], #sweat#

Outrigger 04-23-2007 10:00 AM

Yeah, actually I just called Tmo, and if I port my number over for a 2 yr contract, it would be $349 which is what I paid for the 8800 with cingular when it came out, but I wasn't TOO crazy about it due to the kb feedback and creaky sides, but overall, its a very good BB. I just hate to get the 8800 and then have the 83xx come out a month or two later. It just sucks that there's no word on even IF the 83xx will be out for Tmo... what to do what to do. Want to get rid of the Treo already. I see that Tmo has it on their regular page now, funny how there's no mention of GPS, maybe Tmo DID omit it.

I bet most of these issues are resolved in the t-mo version.... They have had time to fix the problems identified earlier..... I know that was the case when Cingular got the 8700.... All the issues were fixed when T-Mo released their 8700...

Outrigger 04-23-2007 10:08 AM

Hmmm, I guess no one will really know until someone gets the first Tmo one. I plan to sell my Treo 750 for around $400 and then either the 8800 or 83xx (if it comes out), then I'd be a happy camper. Cingular's $50/mo (no voice plan price) for BES is just too much.

John Clark 04-23-2007 11:36 AM

Kyoo??? Not you too!!! (n)

mkatwilder24 04-23-2007 11:36 AM

oh...so tempted...

I think I'll wait a few weeks into May and see if they release an 8820 or 8300 before I buy. I was surprised to see that the 8700g didn't drop in price. Kind of disappointing since I was considering that one as well...currently a 7520 (office phone) so anything is an upgrade for me at this point. I'm holding out for WiFi, though if I doesn't come in any of the models it won't stop me from buying.

PS. As for the upgrade pricing, I think it matters what plan you are on. I have a basic 19.99 Tmo plan just for personal use and I don't get the special upgrade pricing unless I move up the plan too.

Seriously.... it's hard to shake off a new BB.... :)

John Clark 04-23-2007 11:44 AM

I *might* trade the Pearl for the 83xx....Definitely not the 8800. To each his own, though. I'll just be the lone Pearl user around here!

Yes!! I have a plan!!!! Time to call GF back and tell her as well!!! Whoooohooo!!!!!

Great! She hung up on me again! At least I will have a new toy to play with...

When I called to order my 8800 this morning, the TMO CSR confirmed it does have GPS, so I'll be awfully cranky if it's not there. That was my whole reason for upgrading.

atomic80 04-23-2007 12:15 PM

I called this morning, got confirmation that I was qualified for the $349 upgrade to the 8800 but decided to wait until the 83xx comes out from Tmo because it supposedly is coming out on May 7th. I'll wait...really want the features that it offers.

caggarcia 04-23-2007 12:20 PM

Is it just me, or does this seem odd to anyone else?

I'm pretty sure T-Mobile's 8800 doesn't have a camera, so how would Video Capture be possible? :?

Just rumors from BGR that it "might" be out on May 7th. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be out by May 7th, since its only two weeks from now, but hoping at least the end of May.

teleberry 04-23-2007 02:01 PM

I'll stick with the 8100. Fits in my pocket nicely...
My GF with the purse can haul the bigger bricks.

plchan 04-23-2007 02:02 PM

From TMO website, the 8800 spec does not show it has GPS function.

Whoohooo!!! UPS dude just dropped it off! 10 min of configuring it, I like it! Screen looks smaller than the 8700's... Have not tired typing on it yet... Charging now then need to set up syncje, bbweather, pdsports and berry411... So far I like!
