Default Unopen E-mail Message

Please Login to Remove!

This may be an easy question but we have a user that shows the unopened e-mail message and in fact doesn't have any unopened e-mail. We've tried the "Mark Prior" option and that didn't work. You should know this is a new deployment. Does anyone know how to get rid of this message? The device is an 8700c with the latest versions. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to BB Forums. Two things to try:

Check in Saved Messages. Unread messages sometimes hide out there
If that doesn't do it, pop the battery out and then back in.

AND, then if nothing else, have the user pull the battery while the BB is powered on, hold for 30 seconds, replace to reboot. Sometimes that will also clear a vagrant unread mail message.

i am getting this about every 3rd day. and i have to do the battery pull to fix it. I check saved but thats not my issue. Is this a known issue with RIM? I ask because its getting very annoying.

I have never experienced this problem, with handhelds RIM950, 7290, 8700c, and 8703e. The one option I've implemented across all handhelds was under Email Options, I set "Hide Filed Messages" to "NO". Sometimes it's very easy to accidentally file a message, or save it. This eliminates the "Oh crap, where'd it go" problem. :P

Having a "Saved" folder on the handheld (except the Pearl), at this point, is in my opinion completely redundant and pointless. I firmly believe in "Backup your Backups", but with such a small storage capacity, it's just asking for trouble.

Just my .02.

I think the saved message folder is a good use for saving a message with a link I use, but don't save it in my bookmarks, especially for my [email address] address messages which I don't have on my desktop PC.
