In 4.1 I was able to file emails into the "Deleted Items" folder by using the return key. 4.2 does not seem to allow this. Any one have any ideas? Thanks.

I have never tried to file a message into the trash until now. I can verify that you can not do it with v4.2 but don't know about prior versions.

If you wanting to delete an email, just delete it. Filing a message into the trash is like storing the dead to your house in the trash. I don't understand why you would ever want to do that.

The reason I would file messages to the Deleted Items folder is because it would delete the message from my Blackberry as well as from my exchange mailbox at the same time. It was an easy way for me to delete emails I did not want.

If you set "Delete On" to "Handheld and Mailbox", using the Delete key will accomplish what you desire.

Just because you don't understand why someone would do something doesn't make it suddenly invalid. Some people need/want BES, some don't. Some people listen to MP3's on their 8800/8100, some don't. Some people need/want a camera, some don't and the list goes on and on. Those who don't want or need a feature shouldn't dictate what is possible and what isn't for those who do.

There are those of us who did file into Delete Items and would like to see it in 4.2 and we have our reasons. If you don't file into Deleted Items, great! Then you don't have to worry about it. ;)

Not if you also want to keep what's on your BB and in your mailbox separate (and also have access to Deleted Items until actually deleted off the BB). We've been able to use filing into Deleted Items to accomplish this in the past. Again, I don't see why this was disabled in 4.2. Those who didn't need it simply didn't have to use the feature.


As a workaround, I created a Delete folder with autoarchive set to run every day and permanently delete items in the Delete folder. Not sure if there's a Notes equivalent to this if you're using BES with Notes.

Thanks. I'll try that as a workaround. Hopefully they will bring that feature back.
