The backlight stays on when my 8700c is holstered.

Settings:
Auto off= Enabled
Automatic backlight= Off
Backlight Timeout: = 30 seconds

What other settings should I set?

I've had instances of some users holstering thier berry the wrong way, ie. facing outside in the holster thereby unknowingly pressing some of the keys and prematurely draining the battery in doing so. I'm guessing your berry is holstered correctly ;) I would change the backlight to 10 sec. and see if it stays on longer than that (w/o pressing anything else of course), this would be a good starting point in troubleshooting whether or not something else may be wrong...

Mind... Do you have a holster WITH A MAGNET in it? Some holsters do not have the magnet. Will a paper clip hold to it?

How do you know the light is staying on in the holster? Do you keep peaking in? Sorta like how do we know the light goes OFF in our refrigerators...?

And take JdubbleR's advice on placing it facing IN the holster. But the magnet is the key.
