Hello All,

After syncing my Blackberry on my work PC this morning, the device completely shut down. So, I removed the battery, turned on the device and it was stuck on the Verizon screen for over an hour with a blue hourglass. Removed the battery 3 more times and tried the same thing but to no avail.

Went to the Verizon store across the street and they informed me that it is a "software wakeup issue" and they were unable to get the Blackberry turned on again even after trying a new battery.

To make a long story short, Verizon is sending me a new 8703 which should arrive tomorrow morning because the gentleman on line in front of me walked out with the last one in the store. However, I was reassured that my new device will not be a refurbished model (although there's no way to really tell). Luckily, I have everything backed up on my Mac at home, so hopefully syncing won't be too much of an issue.

My question is - has anyone experienced similar issues on their 8700? I've been using this Blackberry since it came out and this is the first real problem I've encountered. Otherwise great phone until today.

Also, is there anyone else out there who syncs on both a PC at work and a Mac at home? If so, have you experienced any data loss issues or compatability issues? I'm running PocketMac and so far so good.

Unless they send it to you factory sealed (retail box) I'm almost positive it's a refurb, or FRU as they call it.
