I have unsuccessully installed the following programs:

Both of thos program stop right through the installation anbd goes no futher.

I have no access to my PDA right now for the battery is drained.

When i put the device in the cradle the red light come on in the top right hand corner of the device for a few seconds and then goes away.

Vista Hardware detection cannot find the appriaporiate driver to get it instlled.

My main function would to be getting the USB working fine so i can charge the unit and then i can work on the pretty applications later

Thanks in advance guys

First, make sure neither got installed enough to be there. Go to Control Panel --> Programs and Features (or something like that - I'm not at my Vista box at the moment) and uninstall any BlackBerry Software.

Second, download ONLY BlackBerry Device Manager v4.2 SP1 (English). This is the only version that is Vista ready, and also the only version that will work correctly with an OS patched for DST2007.

I've encountered problems in the past attempting to install two packages - Desktop Manager and Device Manager. The packages are designed to be used on their own - not in combination. They ALL have the Modem/USB Drivers, so install only one package.

Finally, when you run the installation, right click on the package and select Run As Administrator. This is good practice even if UAC is disabled. Although I'd hope that the 4.2 SP1 package would handle it properly, I've seen packages install very differently when installed accepting UAC prompts versus right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator.
