Default 8800 phone list dialing issue

Please Login to Remove!

today something happened again and i decided to chase it down. suppose in my phone list i have susan (wife) and bryan (mechanic). i called bryan on 8800 and ended call. later, i wanted to call susan. so, in the phone list, i made susan orange, then right clicked and called mobile. oops, bryan's cell voice mail picks up. tried again for susan same way, got bryan again. it's like the list was stuck to call bryan, even though i selected susan (and, for a test, others farther down the list).

today i went ahead and called cingular blackberry business support. she first had me try soft reboot (alt/num/delete). that did not change anything. then she had me try hard reboot (with power on, remove then replace battery). that cleared out the problem and i can now successfully dial susan from the phone list.

the cingular blackberry support person said if the problem comes back later, i can do the hard reboot again but at that point i may want to call the warranty exchange department and swap out for a new phone because my 8800 may not last long if i have to do hard reboot on more than a very occasional basis.

has anyone experienced anything like this? i'd just as soon skip the hassle of a warranty swap if i can. an unrelated issue is that the locked security EDIT: OWNER information shows in very tiny print, and changing fonts in options/settings does not change that first screen tiny print. if a new unit might solve that issue, perhaps i'd go for it but i doubt there would be any way to know in advance...

any thoughts/anecdotes appreciated / thx.

The support person doesn't know what they're talking about. Removing the battery and reinserting is a fix all for 95% of all BB problems. It doesn't hurt the BB whatsoever. Rebooting the phone cleans out the memory and starts things anew. It's like saying that your PC won't last very long if you reboot it too often.

It hurts nothing to reboot by removing the battery.

Edit: Also, your issue is proabably more software related than hardware related. Worse case scenario: Reload the OS. Takes about an hour.
