Unhappy Unlocked 7290 issue

Please Login to Remove!

I have an unlocked (T-Moblie) 7290 which I'm attempting to use on the Vodafone network. It registers with GSM, gprs & GPRS networks with the Vodafone SIM but, for some reason, I cannot get it to work with my corporate wireless email and calendar sync (might be BES). Prior to buying the 7290, I've been using a Vodafone 7730 which worked fine. The only thing I've noticed that may or may not be significant is that on the 7290, the network is identified as 'vodafone' in lower case whereas on my 7730 it was identified as 'VODAFONE' in upper case. The phone and SMS on GSM work fine with the Vodafone SIM. Any comments, help would be much appreciated.

To date there is only one known company that can perfrom a full voice/data unlock for Blackberry's, that being Bongowireless see: www.bongowireless.com in Canada. It could be the data portion of your 7290 isn't fully unlocked? Just a thought

Technically, if the 7290 shows uppercase GPRS then you are connected via the blackberry.net APN and everything should work. You can try sending a PIN message from your 7290 and if that works it means that the data connection is avaliable and you should maybe try and re-activate your BB.

And one more thing, if you are using a BES, only one device can work with your Corporate e-mail account, make sure you activate the 7290 instead of the 7730.
