Default Any way to assign tones to specific email addresses on a 7250? - 05-04-2007, 07:43 PM

I have to keep my BB on 24/7 to monitor T1 outages that are sent to me via email ( using a BES ). Right now, every time I get ANY email, I have to get up, and check the BB. I'd like to be able to assign a specific ringer to a particular email account. Is there any way of doing this without having to buy software?

Nope. It's a function only for OS versions 4.2 and higher. And no...4.2 is not, nor will it be available for the 72XX series.

You can differentiate all the email addresses that monitor T1 failures from all other email addresses. Give each of the T1 addresses a Level 1 classification (using filters), and then give the Level 1 classification a different ringer.

The ringer won't let know which T1 line failed, but it will alert you to check your messages, where you'll be able to read which one failed.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the only actions I can take in the email filters are changing whether or not to forward the msg, or change the Importance or Sensitivity to "High". I do not see an option for Level 1.

Thanks in advance.

Or should I be creating the filter from the desktop software?

Are you on BIS or BES?

If you're on BIS, you set up the Level 1 filters online. I'm with T-Mobile, and you'll find it by signing on to My T-Mobile, choosing BlackBerry Internet Mail, and selecting the Filters option associated with each email address.

With BES, run the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, select Redirector Settings, and go to the Filters Tab. Here's a link to more detailed BES instructions: BlackBerryCool » Setting Up Level 1 Messaging.
