Default Gmail on 8800

Please Login to Remove!

I want to get my gmail email on my 8800 without using the Gmail app for the phone. I need it to auto check the server as well. I tried the "Personal Email Setup wizard" but I don't seem to be getting very far with it to be honest.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

You need to setup a blackberry internet service book for gmail. That can be accomplished by visiting your carrier's BIS webpage. Where you can setup a username and password then add gmail as a new service book.

I think I did setup my BIS user name and password. I use Cingular so it should be : mycingular.blackberry.net right? But the only problem is my user name and password don't work. I have a @mycingular.blackberry.net email address.

Contact Cingular for support, have them reset your password. I have my gmail account setup through BIS and it works fine on an 8800 and 8830.

Well I got my password using my PIN, but my login just isn't working I guess. Is it my full email (username@mycingular.blackberry.net) or just (Username)?

I am sure there are differences of opinion, but what seemed useful for me was to create a forward in my gmail account to my cingular (or providers) blackberry email account. On my providers site (cingular etc..) I put my return address as my gmail address along with my signature. This gives me a backup on my gmail. I use my blackberry as a task list. I don't erase an email on the blackberry until I either answer or complete the task. I file 'filter' on gmail.

What do you use for your login on BIS? ie. your phone number, or PIN, or what? That is the main problem I am having right now. I am able to get my password sent to my phone using the PIN method but I don't know my user log in for BIS.

My 8800 arrives soon and I have a similar question. Will my Gmail emails be synchronized on the Gmail account as well as on my BB? Basically, I want to know if email I send from the 8800 using my Gmail account will also show as sent when I log onto Gmail from my computer's browser.

I am about to give up my Windows Mobile device with its awesome MS Push which synchs everything perfectly in order to (hopefully) have multiple push accounts with the 8800 and I am nervous about it not really working out to be quite sufficient.

When you say you didn't get very far with it - what exactly happened?

When I first setup Gmail on my 8700 a year and a half ago, it required more steps. The Personal Email Setup Wizard on the 8800 was incredibly easy. I was able to add my Gmail account and my Yahoo account and it works beautifully. I then performed the extra (optional) step of filtering out my from address so any emails sent don't get pushed back to my primary email account.

I now get work email, Gmail and Yahoo instantly and seamlessly.

Provide more details and maybe we can help.

Sorry - just read more of the post and saw the details I was asking for. Browse to BlackBerry Internet Service and try your login and password. Your login is your user name (not the full email address). From there navigate to email accounts and add them. Good luck.
