I am preparing to upgrade from my old faithfull 16mb 6710 running OS 4.0. (In the past I have had a 950, and a 957). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is a large screened, 32MB, Bluetooth device coming down the pipes anytime soon. So I am forced to choose between the 7290 and the 7100r.
I am soliciting thoughts and experiences on the two devices so I may make a good choice. Other than the 16mb memory and lack of bluetooth support, I am almost tempted to get myself a 7780, just to have the larger color screen.

I miss my 7780 in the worst way, yes it was bigger but I really do miss the screen, feel, keypad etc. Not to knock the 7100 it is an excellent phone but if you send email daily it could loose its appeal rather quick further the screen washes out pretty bad in the sun. As for the 7290 tried, tested and true like other traditional BB's I've owned if I have any complaint its the condenced screen, could be me though coming from a 7780 as mention.

I am biased towards the 7290:
- Full QWERTY keyboard (Better than the 7780's)
- 32meg RAM
- Bluetooth
- Great battery life
- More compact.

The 7780 is also significantly slower than the 7290.
The 7100 is a great phone, but I prefer the full QWERTY keyboard.
