HELP!!
I bought a UNLOCKED Cingular 8800 online (Brand new)

When I put the sim card in, it says I have an invalid SIM card..

I know the unit is unlocked when i gointo the advanced menu...

I tried upgrading the software but it still says invalid sim....

The sim works perfectly on my nokia E61 and im trying to use it on the rogers network..

It sounds to me like the BB is not unlocked, that happened to me when I purchased a supposedly unlocked t-mobile RAZR, it wasn't unlocked.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You can see if it is truly unlocked. Look here and scroll down to the link to "How to tell if my BlackBerry is Unlocked" and read it.

And thanks for telling us the solution! It takes a big man (or lady) to admit that--lol, you would be surprised at the number of posts on here that the original poster never responds...

It's not hard to do. Although there is a graphic right at the slot that shows you where the the notch should be...

At least you didn't take scissors to it to get it to fit in the microSD slot. ;)
