Hi,

I'm really looking for confirmation on this. I'm looking to see if the Media Manager program can be used to transfer simple .mid, .wav and various picture files been Nextel BB's and the PC. This would be very helpful to know as I get lots of questions from people asking how they can xfr pictures into their devices. I've downloaded/installed DTM 4.2 sp2 on my system and I've tried working with roxio media manager to do just that and it won't xfr just the simple stuff over. Not worried about any of the audio/video but the picture xfrs would be nice to have for Nextel BB's at least. That would make lots of happy customers.

Thank you!

Well, the Media Manager will only be usable if your handheld's OS is, at the minimum, 4.2.x ... hence, a BlackBerry 7290 or 7100i will not work (that is, unless you have software that we don't ^-^). As for MIDI and picture files, I've never had a problem with my 8800, but as for .wav files, well, I've never tried myself. give it a shot if you like, get back to us, let us know how it works out for ya.

Default Media Manager and 7100i's & 7520's

So as of right now you can simply transfer simple picture files (gifs, jpg's, bmp's, etc).. to and from a bb and pc? I've connected one 7100i and tried seeing if that simple task could be done and media manager didn't allow me or show me that any device was connected.... is there some special roxio media manager program that could be installed INTO the bb to help coordinate xfring of simple picture files at least?

I'm not worried about any sophisticated file transferring.. JUST some simple picture, .wav & .mid xfrs (for ringtones and wall paper) transfers..

Any info on this would help..

Thanks!

Unfortunately, nope ... the Media Manager only works with a handheld OS v4.2.x or later - check Settings (or Options) > About on your device, and it should show you the current software version.

Unhappy Thank you..

Welll (sigh)..

I was afraid of that... you'd think Media Manager would be kind enough to treat this simple request and add something to accomodate people with older devices this one simple yet important feature... I sure hope we can get 4.2 software for those handhelds soon...

Nothing below 7130 will ever see anything more than 4.1.0. So if you're using a 7100i like your profile says, you're going to be SOL
