Default Crazy things with my 7100

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone..>HELP....

My 7100 is possessed! This thing has worked great for around 4 months, now it is exhibiting weird things...any help would be appreciated.

1. All of the sudden, when I do Intellisynch with outlook....it won't synch...It looks as though it is synching...but then it never gives me the screen saying if I want to accept the synch...When I check the log...it just says that it says internal error 4918, transaction cancelled.

I am using Desktop manager 4.0.0.130 and Office Outlook 2003.

2. I can no longer save ringtones. I was always able to.. My ringtone player comes up...I can listen to the tone...but when I click on the right side icon, the list DOESN"T give me the option to save. I have PLENTY of memory.

ifeuer,
I started having the same exact problem last week with Outlook. I can no longer sync and I have over 400 names and phone numbers that I want to get into the BB. All was working well for the past 8 months and now....diddlesquat when I try to sync with Outlook 2003. I too get the same 4918 error. Can anyone help?

Are you guys getting a 4918 or a 4198 (I am not kidding). 4198 means a corrupt Outlook client (or at least one that Intellisync can not read).

Try deleting the Outlook profile and creating a new one.

Error 4198 drove me crazy for a while. If you do a web search, you'll find a few different techniques for resolving it, like recreating an Outlook profile or resetting the Intellisynch settings within Desktop Manager. The first approach was not doable for me in a corporate environment, and the second approach didn't work.

I finally found a simpler technique which worked.

1. Find your PC's "Intellisync" folder. It's probably somewhere like "C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync" (replace <your user name> with your actual user name).

2. Delete ALL files in that folder.

3. Resynch using Desktop manager!

That's all there is to it. You'll lose any custom settings that you had (eg. confirm deletions), but those are easy to replace.

After about a week of looking for solutions, I finally found this thread. It worked GREAT. Just followed the directions about deleting the Intellisync folder files and it worked great after that. I did backup the original Intellisync folder just for safety. But the first sync after deleting the original files worked like a charm.
Thanks!!!
