Default unlocking question...how to

Hi i'm fairly new to this. I have a 8700g which i'd like unlocked. I've purchased a unlock code already...just the next step...i need a valid sim card which i have...from another provider
Does it matter which sim card i stick in the 8700g?

If you have the unlock code any SIM will do

If you have unlocked it, another carrier's SIM card should do it. Pop it in and see--good luck.

ok going to give it a try...i wasn't sure if i needed the matching carrier sim to unlock it.
