Question 7100V on T-Mobile

Please Login to Remove!

We are just finishing our 3 year contract with Vodafone UK but have loadsa money left in our hardware budget. Rather than simply wasting this on junk and as we are moving to Blackberry on T-Mobile we thought we could buy some Vodafone 7100V units and use them on T-Mobile.

My question is what implications are there?
Can 7100's be unlocked?
Can we put the T-Mobile theme onto them so they are the same (except for badges as those we got from T-Mobile)?

Has anyone even tried this?

Only Vodafone can unlock their phones - or you send them to Bongo Wireless in Canada, along with $100USD.

It is possible to put the 7100t T-Mobile theme on it, but it is NOT possible to change the branding that comes on when you power the device up. There is a gigantic topic on themes stickied at the top of the 7100 Forum. Good luck!

There might be, confirm the Vodafone uses the same GSM signal as T-Mobile ie 900/1800/1900 etc.
Can 7100's be unlocked?
Should be able as my wife uses a 7100t from T-Mobile here in Canada on the Rogers network, you'll have to see if unlocking is available for the 7100v? So for only Bongowireless www.bongowireless.com in Canada has been able to fully voice/data unlock BB at a cost of 100US per.

Yes, my wifes 7100t has the Rogers, T-Mobile and Vodafone theme on it.
Has anyone even tried this?

Using 7100v on T-Mobile here in the US....Came unlocked as it was a German 7100v not UK version.

No problems and I use all kinds of themes.....still do get Vodafone start-up screen though...
