Default 7100t vs. 72xx Screen Width / Resolution?

Please Login to Remove!

I think I'm gonna be jumping on the BB boat soon, but i was looking at the screens of the 7100t and the 72xx. I've held both in my hand (dummy 7100t) and, obviously, the 72xx screen is wider.

I read somewhere else on a post, and somebody who used the 7100t said there was less text per line, and more scrolling needed due to the narrower screen. I don't know what text size he had it at.

Screens:
7100t 240x260
72xx 240x160

Since they have the same amount of horizontal pixels (unless that # is wrong), is it safe to say that both models can display the same amount of text going across the screen? How about web sites? Obviously, it would "look" narrower on the 7100t, but could it theoretically display the same amount (if not more) of info on the same screen?

Most likely, the person who said there was less text per line had upped the fontsize a fair bit as they found the text too small on that screen.

I can tell you that the screen is small in physical width but the resolution is much higher quality. The width of the whole device is about the width of a credit card turned vertically.

Yep. I'm one of the ones using a larger font because the screen's so small. If you've got eagle eyes, you can get a very small font that's very legible.

Thanks for the info. Have you used the "other" blackberries before, and how do you feel about the screen tradeoff?

Yes, I've used many other BB devices, most recently the 7700. For my use, I'd prefer to have a screen that's readable outdoors. The 7100 is not (or to be fair, barely so).

We took a 7230 and 7100 to lunch today. It's a bright day with high overcast. The 7230 looked fantastic outside, as you would expect. The 7100 was barely readable with full backlight. In the car, the 7100 was tolerable. In the restaurant, the 7100 looked fantastic and the 7230 looked fine with the backlight on.

Default How about the 7780?

I have thought about upgrading from my Rogers 6710 to the 7780, more for its screen size... but does it's screen have bright light deficientcies?

you are a complete a** clown and know nothing about the blackberry device. If you had any common sense you would know how to turn on the back light on the 7100, because it is brighter than any other blackberry device. The 7230 backlight is slightly dimmer than the 7100. Please do not post your opinion if you know nothing on the matter.
p.s leave the testing to the tech's. you have way too much time on your hands..
