Default Help! 8800 suddenly poor internet browsing....

Please Login to Remove!

I use my 8800 to browse the net and monitor my site as well as constant push email.

For the first month this has been fine - the browsing was even slightly quicker than i expected. However, the past week has been a nightmare. I can only sometimes access the net (clicking on the browser sometimes makes it hang on the BB screen) or i can only access the T-Mobile home page.... I can't navigate to other sites or even click things on the homepage. When i do, it just says 'requesting' on the blue bar at the bottom, and then.... nothing.

Sometimes i can browse for 10 minutes, before i click a link and i get the dreaded 'hang' with the blue requesting bar up. Then, nothing at all happens. To get things working again, i have to continually keep switching the unit on and off - and sometimes even this doesn't work.

Does anyone know what it could be? The BB's reception is fine with a good signal strength; and the T-Mobile server is okay, as when the BB hangs, i can try a friend's Nokia and this connects to the T-Mobile net fine.

If anyone has a way to sort this out, that would be great. It was fine for about a month, but the past week has been a nightmare...

Turn off the wireless connection, then shut off your BlackBerry. Remove the battery, wait five minutes, then put it back in and you should be fine. What you are doing is a reset. You will not lose any data.

Cheers...

Yeah I've cleared the cache and history etc. I'll try the reset recommended above and let you know what happens.

Thanks,

Gareth

Hi Gareth...

Yes, I am seeing issues with the default browser on my 8800 also. I just deployed another manager an 8800 and he brought this to my attention that he cannot get to Fidelity NetBenefits through our Firewall. The browser just returns an error about not being able to get the content from the page. At this point I am not sure if it is the firewall returning the error or Fidelity Web Site..... More testing... Were on a BES...

Let us know if clearing the cache works or helps. I only mentioned this as yesterday while trouble shooting the Fidelity issue, mine seemed to clear the firewall and then connected with an error to Fidelity after I cleared the cache...

Regards;

Well... Clearing the cache, history and carrying out the above reset has unfortunately had no effect.

I'm on BIS using the standard browser.

If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great - it's taken me nearly an hour to navigate to this site and type a reply!
