| 8830, Ramble IM, Verizon - Cannot Connect Please Login to Remove! I've tried a number of things, firewall settings, different ports, TCP, and reinstalling, I cannot for the life of me get Ramble to connect. It just sits there on Connecting, Please Wait... forever
I get some data xfer's going when i first hit login, then it stops after a few seconds and sits there idle
anyone know how to get Ramble to connect? I'm on Verizon if that helps at all, thanks in advance! | | Offline

| I'm afraid I can't help very much. I can tell you that I am using Ramble on my 8830 with no problems. Ramble does place a settings application under options on my 8830. My network connections is set to device default and TPC Host and Port is set to: toc.osar.aol.com:8080. The default browser on my 8830 is set to internet browswer rather than blackberry browser.
It could be that your settings are sending your connnection through your BES and your company has blocked that port behind your firewall.
Try changing the settings to those above and see if that gets you going.

| Free isnt better. Just plop the $20 for a device license.....its well worth it and blows Ramble away. There is no comparison. | | Offline

| Another vote for JiveTalk. It is simply one of the best BB apps ever. I think you can still try it for free? | | Offline

| this was happening to me for a day or so until I accidentally figured out how to fix it on my 8830 - I had auto-connect on, so when I opened Ramble, AIM would automatically attempt to connect. When this happened, I pressed the back key, taking me to the icons. After a few tries of pressing back right as soon as AIM begins to connect, it won't go back to the icons, but instead will allow you to manually select connect within Ramble. Once I did this, it would connect perfectly - but I did have to do this every time to make it log on. I got sick of that and now I have JiveTalk and it's way better. Hope that helps - this seems like a weird fix so I'm not sure if this will help anybody else, but thought I'd post it anyway | | Offline

| Ramble is no longer a viable IM player they do not have any support. Jivetalk is hands down the best product on the market and I have tried them all.
I used to love ramble for the free factor but if you cant get help from the developer then why bother. | | Offline

| So do we have it settled that Ramble is inop on the 8830? That is a fairly big statement and should probably make its way to certain faqs, etc that reference Ramble. | | Offline

| I have to chime in with a resounding "me too". I'm trying beejive, but I was perfectly satisfied with RambleIM on my old 7100c and messing with making things work on my new 8830 is starting to bug me. I have issues with BBToday and with some of the google helper apps as well. | | Offline

| I think all the old apps like BBlight BBtoday and ramble and the other free non supported software have just fallen behind while theBB os has moved forward. | | Offline
