I have the 8830 from Verizon and my BB Messenger is really buggy, I only have two buddies on my list (3rd one got mysteriously wiped out), well for some reason the BB messenger recognizes them both under ONE pin, so depending on who IMs me first is whose name it recognizes and if both IM simulataniously the name of who ever I was conversation with first is the name both are given so my conversation list looks like I have two conversations open with the same person. Anyone else have this issue? And what can I do to fix it?

Just curious how you verified they are both the same? To confirm, click on them one at a time and then click 'Contact Info'.

After someone gets added to your list, it is possible to rename them (displays only that way in your list/conversations).

I verified it by exactly how you said, using the "contact info", it's one of the several bugs my 8830 is uncovering.

So the Contact Info is different, but the name is showing the same?

Let's put it this way, I have buddy A and Buddy B on my list, I usually talk to buddy A more, so his user name will show buddy A correct info, BUT has Buddy B's PIN listed. And it remains that way until Buddy B IMs me, at which point both show Buddy B's, name, PIN, etc....

Make sense?

Got it.....that sounds really hokey. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I've not heard of this. Have you done a hard reboot (remove/reinsert battery) to see if it helps?

Honestly I've not been impressed with the VZW 8830 (have a couple of demos from my rep).

I'm holding out for the Sprint 8830.

Yup, I did the alt, caps del AND a battery pull (which is VERY cumbersome BTW).

I am actually IMing with Buddy A, and as usual on the buddy list it shows his name as Buddy A, but when you hit the menu key, and it gives you the list of options such as email, sms, call they all say Buddy B!

WTF!!!

The 8830 is VERY cool, but more and more I am leaning back towards my old 8703e as I had a fraction of the problems I am having with the 8830.
