Sounds to me like you purchased the 8700c on ebay or from someone else?

If that is the case, the previous owner has to cancel their BIS account which releases the IMEI and PIN for you to use on your BIS account. First try to contact the seller and get them to do it. If that fails, contact Cingular to see if they will do it. You can also try to contat RIM and see if they will do it for you. You might have to provide a proof of purchase. If the device is listed as lost or stolen, however, all you have is a paperweight I am sorry to say.

Right, and I'm the Queen of Canada.

You should try to return the device to its rightful owner.

You have to call them and have them delete the BIS account. Good luck as this is really difficult if you're not a customer and it's not your BIS account.

It might have been salvageable if the battery was pulled quickly enough and the device was allowed to dry out thoroughly (rinsing it in distilled water before drying would help remove impurities in the pool water that could be an issue).

honestly, it's a long shot. i had a motorola star-tac way back in the day and i had it in a water proof bag in the water-tight compartment on my jet ski. well i flipped the jetski and the force of the flip apparently made the phone tear the water proof bag and the phone got drenched. I took it out of the bag and left it on the table with the battery removed for a few days. i went back to it and the phone with the original battery did not work. i tried another battery and the phone worked. the mic barely worked and people said i was very very crackly. i say the blackberry will be a paper weight b/c it's very intricate and it would really be a long shot (salt and chlorine are no no's when it comes to electronics exposure).
