Question Just got my 7100g without a manual

Please Login to Remove!

I might have left it at the cingular store or maybe they took it out or something, dont want to go back there now. Figured I can figure it out myself besides a few things I can always get help here from. Here are my first few questions too.

1. How do you remove that Enterprise Activation menu if im just using my own email account to check on my phone?

2. How do I download my phonebook from my SIM card and have it on the actual phone?

3. How do I install something to use AOL INSTANT MESSENGER?

4. Any cool tips or tricks you can teach me about it?

Read the very nice FAQ's that are stickied at the top of the general forums. Mark did an awesome job. Your questions are answered there.

Doesn't come with a full manual. Go here and download it:

Ok no wonder i didn't have it. I checked that manual thing from the other page and it didn't tell me anything about setting up to check my mail from a pop3 account.

Im checking this link you just gave me now though. Thanks for it.

Hey checked them both out and it told me nothing. Last thing it said is to synchronize your handheld data. I dont have an email client on my pc I want to sync. I just want to check a totally different email account on my 7100g. I do use mozillas thunderbird email client for other emails but that shouldn't even have to come into the picture. Can someone please help?

I dont see anywhere on my phone a blackberry webclient and dont have anything on the desktop program. Sorry im just so new to this type of thing.

EDIT.... WANTED TO ADD : I checked the Media Net and seen the Setup blackberry to setup a mycingular.blackberry email but i dont want to do that. And thats the only thing I found so far to help me out. Anyone?

Someone suggested you review the FAQs on the forum, have you done so?
The FAQs are very good and they helped me out with a number of issues early on.
The value in this is that the same questions that are asked over and over by new users
don't get posted and reposted to the forums, and instead are in a central spot for your review. They are not static either as I have seen edits and new info posted as warranted.

Please do a search next time before asking your questions. Not that asking questions is wrong or anything but I'm sure the long term users on this forum get tired of answering the same questions over and over again...just my opinion. I am sure everyone here is willing to help with what they know or else this forum wouldn't be here at all. There are many more features to this forum than just ask every question that comes to mind and hope that someone will answer you. If you just purchased your 7100G I congraduate you on this purchase... it's an awesome phone, I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have my 7100...however, Blackberry devices do not come with an instruction book which sucks but you can go and DL it from the blackberry website... it is 144 pages long so I think that's the reason why BB doesn't provide you with a manual. If for some reason you guys have a hard time finding it then you're more than welcome to e-mail me and I will reply with the manual attached on the e-mail response.

Back to the issue at hand... I found his last night and it works perfectly... just have to have a little patience... but the credit goes to the members that put this instruction book together...Turning your 7100 BB to an external modem.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

Sorry, i know I seem like an ass coming here and asking so many questions. I did do searches on everything I asked so far though. Thats why I posted this. I just didn't understand anything that I found in the answers I did get so far and those are the questions I reposted in this thread. But through just trial and error on the answers you guys gave, i eventually figured some things out. I still cant find a way to edit the address book without using Outlook on the PC

Just go into the Address Book on the handheld and click on the thumbwheel. The menu that pops up gives you the opportunity to add or edit addresses. As a suggestion, click on the thumbwheel wherever you are and navigate through the menus that come up. For example, from the menu that comes up when you click the thumbwheel while in the address book, select options and see what comes up, then click on each of those to see what the options available to you are. I think this is one of the best ways to familiarize yourself with the unit.

Just a comment to all who say "search, search search" - I agree with you, BUT - one of the problems I had as a Newbie's was that I didn't know the proper terms sometimes to conduct a useful search.

This will sound like I'm trying to be rude, but I'm not! Promise

And there are your terms.....

Good Luck.

Although I indicated you can download it (link provided above), the 7100g DOES come with a manual. It is on the CD that comes with it, in a folder called "Documentation". It is just not "pre printed".

Towski, you can say that now! Should have seen it in '91 when we moved there - all of those fancy antique stores were just junk shops back then! LOL

Nice! I live right by downtown Dallas. That commute up to McKinney everyday was a BEAR.
