It is much much sexier. I just got a 8800 due to the much better price on eBay, but I think I'm going to try to pawn it off for cost on my parents and get the 8830.

eBay: BRAND NEW VERIZON BLACKBERRY 8830 ACCESSORIES INCLUDED (item 180129684544 end time Jun-12-07 17:03:07 PDT)
eBay: Blackberry Verizon 8830 Dummy Display Fake Phone (item 290126030028 end time Jun-12-07 18:30:58 PDT)
eBay: Blackberry 8830 World Global Phone - Verizon - NEW (item 220120454916 end time Jun-12-07 19:00:00 PDT)
It isn't black, just dark chrome on the sides.
eBay: Verizon RIM BlackBerry 8830 Display Phone (item 170120972948 end time Jun-17-07 17:35:23 PDT)

Until they make a swivel holster with the magnet for the 8830 I will be keeping my 8703.

I might suggest going to a Verizon store and actually handling the 8830 and case. I think you might be pleasantly surprised. I had an 8703e and upgraded. I like the leather case better and find it less bulky. it might work for you too.

Thanks cjmac49. I am going to do that. I use my 8703 in the hospital and attach it to my waist band of my hospital scrubs. I find it is secure and easy to take the handset in/out.

They do offer a plastic holster if you want one. You have to buy it as an accessory.

Does the plastic case resemble the 8703 case (swivels and has in/out holster capabilities)?

The leather holster has a very cool swivel feature that allows you to move it 180 degrees, but won't allow the holster to rotate to the upside down position. It also has magnets on both sides so that you can put the 8830 in screen facing in or screen facing out. Its secure and sturdy. I would not sell it short until I looked at it in person.

Craig.

Question

I believe the 8830 OEM case with BB inside is still thinner than the 8703e case.

Anyone know for sure?

When I bought my 8830 on Memorial Day, I asked what accessories were included with the phone, the case being of major concern. I wanted to buy one if I needed to, or if I didn't like the included case. The moment I saw the case, I was turned off by the metal BB "ornament" (logo) on the case. However, there were no other options available at the time, so I settled for the OEM case...then I tried it for a couple of days and LOVED it. I was also unaware of the magnetic holstering functions of the case. I'm over the metal BB pin or whatever you call it, and I now face the phone with the display turned in. I'm right-handed, so this facilitates answering calls and e-mails with one-handed ease.

Now I'm going to look up that hard case someone mentioned....

Thanks guys. I'm going to look at the case sometime by the end of the week. I have plenty of time as my upgrade is not available until July 3rd.

Verizon. We ordered holsters with our 8830 thinking we were ordering the leather holster. The leather holster came with it so our "order" was plastic holsters. Ended up never opening them and sent them back.

The picture of the case in BB8830's reply, looks horrible in my opinion. If that is the case that comes with the phone, I'm instantly turned away :(

Unfortunately that's the case that does come with it. The Seido case looks better though. It's worth the extra $25.
