Default 8830 more bluetooth woes

Please Login to Remove!

Since I've gotten my 8830, I've noticed that I can have my headset successfully paired with my device, but every now and then the device will just turn bluetooth off. In order to use my headset again, I have to go into network, turn bluetooth on, and then connect to my headset.

Anyone else seeing this type of issue?

I've had BT on for 3 weeks solid and never had it do that.

BB's drop BT connections with some headsets, it is known issue. There is list of such devices on Pinstack. Which one do you use?

Plantronics 655... That being said, it isn't like it even drops the connection. It totally shuts off bluetooth. When I go into the network connection settings, bluetooth is no longer checked.

thanks for the responses

Any chance your battery was getting low? If so, it might have shut it down to conserve power.

I have also noticed that it seems to drop and reconnect to the headset like every 5 mins. I was over at pinstack and unable to find that list of devices that BBs drop their connections on. Anyone have a link to it?

thanks again.

Guide to: Supported headsets and car kits for Bluetooth BlackBerry devices - RIM Blackberry Forums - Pinstack.com

and

Bluetooth headset recamendations - RIM Blackberry Forums - Pinstack.com

But you have to read thru these topics...
Your symphoms are really strange... I expect that it is not a problem of headset but phone.. Headset can disconnect but not turn BT off.. If I were you I would reinstall OS and started with the same which you have now. Some phones may turn BT off when battery is too low (well known for Palm's) but I never saw this in BB's.. Also you can contact RIM's support since this is not very common issue..

What headset do you have? I have a Plantronics 655 and a BlackBerry 8830, just like the original poster, and mine is doing the same damn thing. Bluetooth simply turns off. Aggravating as all get-out--especially considering that this was one of the issues that made me ditch my Treo.

Both devices are fully charged. I've reset my BlackBerry, pulled the battery, deleted the pairing and re-paired the Plantronics... nothing helps.

Same issue here, Samsung WEP 200, BB just turnes off the blue tooth connection. I had posted about this earlier and received no responses.
I can make or receive a call hang up with that call go to make another and the blue tooth radio is shut off on the BB.

I have a VZW 8703e with a 655 and have the same experience. The 340 I have works great and was half the price. Go figure. Anyone found a solution?

Default Blue Tooth Dropping Connection

I have a similar problem. I have my BB 8830 paired to my car and most of the time it works fine however once in a while it wont connect. I have to go into the "Manage Connections" and for some reason the check mark next to Bluetooth will not be there. Once I put the check mark back it will connect again. It's very frustrating. I am in and out of the car all day so I cant really narrow down how often it happens. I have tried several times to re-pair the connection and/or remove the battery and that solves the problem. It's easier to just go into the connections and put the check mark back. Anyone figure out why it does this?

I am using a BB 8830 World Phone connected to my Mercedes S-500.

If you're using your convenience key for "manage connections" that would do it. That key gets hit all the time...and could easily turn the BT off unexpectedly.

Default Jawbone

I have a Jawbone BT and have never had that problem, prior to my Jawbone I had a Plantronics 655 and did not experience that either.

You have to set the BB to receive files -- and that has to happen for each transfer...before every file transfer...in media on the main menu, hit "receive using Bluetooth".

This is a known issue with available operating systems for the 8830. It does not matter what Bluetooth accessory that you use--the 8830 itself simply turns the Bluetooth radio off randomly (albeit, infrequently).
