Default Can't Read 8830 Keyboard

I'm having a lot of trouble reading the keys on my 8830. Part of the problem is the terrible backlighting that only illuminates part of each character. Does anyone know how to turn off the backlight? I know it can be turned down to 10% but that's not quite good enough.

I know exactly what you mean, mine is like that and I haven't quite figured out when the any consistencny in when the backlight turns on/off.

It's almost easier to read with the back light of entirely..
