Question Newbie Help please with 7290 and Bluetooth

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I've just got a unlocked bb 7290 and I'm just using it as a pay as you go.

I'm having problems with the bluetooth. I'm able to pair it to my computer and my other mobile phone, but when I try to send something to it, it appears disconnected but its still paired.

Any suggestions would be helpfully

Bluetooth on the 7290 (and a couple of other models) is designed to be used only with a headset, not with a computer. I'm afraid you're stuck with the USB and the Desktop Manager!

A bluetooth connection to the computer would allow for transfer of media (picture and sound) files between the BB and the computer, and the BB OS 4.1 is not designed for that. (Generally, the tasks you can accomplish with a handheld-computer bluetooth connection is determined by the vendor software installed on the computer, and BBs operating systems predating 4.2 are not ready for that.) OS 4.2 lets you transfer files, but 4.2 is not available for the 7290 and the 7100 AFAIK. I don't think it ever will be, either, because 1.) 7290 and 7100 only have 32mb flash, and 2.) RIM and all of the service providers would prefer ($) that you upgrade phones, not operating systems.
