Default 7100i - have 2 browsers, how to fix?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 7100i, about 2 weeks old. Just randomly when turning on the blackberry 7100i i had 2 icons of the web browser on my screen. I looked at the Applications and only 1 install of the "browser" is there. I attempted removing the battery for 30 seconds, no work. I attempted to remove battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds, no work. I attempted sending the service books, no work. I called the tech support, they didn't have much of an idea aside from "wait it out and maybe tomorrow it won't be there". Both browswers work fine and can view the internet. It is odd that in my bookmarks there are 2 folders called Links! And when I select one of the browser icons, 1st icon goes to the 1st Links folder, the 2nd icon goes to the 2nd Links folder. It's like its installed twice, but not...

any help would be greatly appreciate!

this is a new fix that gets rid of one of the browsers..
...it is apparently caused by a service called 'wireless village' ...a 'test' browser was sent out by rim, (apparently before this service is available on the bb.) anyway....

heres what you do..you will have 2 browser service books....one new, one old. delete the one called 'blackberry internet browser' this is the old one.

this will leave the new one called nextel blackberry internet browser. this will leave you with the correct one.

i assume the new browser will give you some im capabilities the old one doesnt have.

I had the same problem the other night. NEXTEL had me remove all the service books except WAP transport and e-mail accounts. After that I had to register the phone and they resent the service books.
