Default 8830 Calendar Not Syncing ...

Please Login to Remove!

New 8830, New BES, Exchange 2003, Outlook 2003 on WinXP Pro...

I have setup 15 7250 devices that sync with no issues, however I have an 8830 that will NOT sync the calendar properly...

It syncs anything newly added since setting up the calendar to sync wirelessly, but will not sync anything that was already entered in the calendar (calendar entries made prior to setting up wireless calendar sync).

Any thoughts?

Thanks ...

Did you receive any errors with the calendar when you did your inital activation? Have you checked your BES logs to see if there are any errors? Try setting another activation password on BES and then on the device do another activation. This will resync everything again.

He said he is using BES. This is not a known issue for BES. I have dozens of BES users on 8830's and not one calendar sync issue. The BB article you refered to specifically excludes BES from the problem.

Default Ok - got it to work: Here's how ...

It seems that in my case the calendar may have been corrupted on the device... so here are the steps I took to get the calendar to sync (NOTE: this assumes that only the desktop/outlook calendar is accurate - the procedure I used deletes all device entered calendar events):

1: Set the calendar sync to Outlook (not wireless).
2: Using Desktop Manager I cleared the Calendar.
-->a.Connect your BlackBerry device to your personal computer.
-->b.In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Backup and Restore and click Advanced.
-->c.From the Device Databases list, select Calendar and click Clear.
-->d.Click OK, then click Close.
3: I resent the Service Books to the device via the BES.
4: Forced a sync between outlook and the device with the calendar set to sync to Outlook (not wireless).
5: After full sync of the calendar - I set the calendar sync back to wireless.

The above appears to have worked... I have all legacy entries, and tested adding/deleting new entries from both the desktop and the device and they synced fine.

The above is a rendition of steps I gleaned from the following BB KB's:
1. Using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, backup the BlackBerry smartphone Calendar database. For instructions, see KB11297.
2. Clear the BlackBerry smartphone Calendar database using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. For instructions, see KB05340.
3. Send the BlackBerry Internet Service service books to the BlackBerry smartphone. For instructions, see KB02830.

New OS released from Bell *should* fix this issue.
