Default Please Help!!!! Device continuously restarting

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, I am having a problem with my 8703e device. I downloaded a theme last night (ota) and it just rebooted on its own without installing the theme. It is stuck on this restart cycle; it will get to a white screen with an hourglass then restart. I contacted VZW and we tried a reset by holding down the R button while starting the device but it didnt work. Is there any way to get my data off the device at least my contacts, because they are recommending a re-install of the OS?

Thanks in advance.

Wirelessly posted (8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

The theme that you installed is causing your device to stay in this reboot cycle.

You will need to wipe your device and reinstall the OS. Take a search around the forums ad there are plenty of how to threads on accomplishing this.

Cheers, best of luck!

I understand that I will have to do that, but is there a software that is out (a side from the bb destktop software) that could access the data on my device like contacts and things like that. Something like data recovery software on a PC when the drive crashes. I will do more searching but any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunatly, there is not. Unless you've made backups you have probably lost your data. While in the loop you can *try* connecting it and see if a backup can be made. I doubt it will backup, though.

I see..... Well this totally Sucks and is pretty limited on RIM's part. I do have a backup of about almost 2 weeks ago but I have received allot of new information since then.

Well thank you anyway, if for some miraculous reason someone has an alternative way of getting data back, I would be most grateful.

Thanks

I understand it sucks....But how is it limited on RIM's part? They provide Desktop Manager with options of "automatic backup" when connected etc. They really try to get you to backup your device. It's no fun to lose the info, but chalk it up to lesson learned. Also, it's a good idea to always perform a backup before loading any new software, especially themes.

I hear what your saying, but I say limited because, I would think there would be some type of forensics software available.

Thanks
