Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Enter the wrong password three more times and the device will automatically wipe itself.

Problem solved.

Entering the wrong password 10 times will reset all data. That's your only option

What else gets wiped when you enter the wrong password for the 10th time? Address Book, Media (i.e. all pics, tones, etc?), installed apps too?

Mail, messages, contacts, tasks, memos. I can't confirm that all third-party apps will wipe, I don't believe your SD media card will wipe, either.

As I'm sure you know, the 8700 does not have an SD card, so that won't affect the OP.
