I'm confused - Does my Alltel 8703e have internal GPS or what?
 

I was using BlackBerry Maps and I saw the option to have internal GPS on.. so I enabled it, but it doesn't display anything. All it says is "ON" and it says "You are currently on.." but that never updates or the map never moves in the direction I'm driving to. Am I missing something here?

Yes, it does have the hardware, but Alltel may disable it like Verizon does.

Why would they do that? How would one go about unlocking the feature since the hardware is already in there? BTW.. search function isn't working for me, the image verification isn't displaying (red x).

Because they want you to use a pay program. Service providers are in business to make money.

As far as I know, it is not possible to "unlockl" the feature.

I guess that makes "cents." You'd think they'd eventually get their money's worth through the data plans. Thanks anyway.
