Default BlackBerry "Media Application," RIM in house tool?

Does anyone know if the BlackBerry Media application is a RIM in-house created application? Are there 3rd party video applications created for the device?

It's shame to waste all of that screen real estate to display just a 320x240 file- and for pretty much non-common file type support.

It is. There is a 3rd part video player that supports full screen (I can't remember the name) but I'm sure a search will find it.

this is the only mediaplayer that i know of that supports screen display.. In order to get the full screen player you do have to buy the professional version.

NEW!! v1.1 of mediaPlayer and multiPlay relased with full screen video playpack!

Well, the 8300 has full screen capabilities in the default media player. I hoping that its just a version issue since those have a newer version of the BB OS than the 8800 does. Though I don't know if this has been covered or not already here.

What are you folks talking about? My 8830 plays perfect full screen video on any 4X3 video source. 16X9 sources do play letterboxed, but that's to be expected if you don't want the sides cut off. I do have to convert the videos through the Roxio Media Manager, since I have not found any video podcasts that play without conversion, but this is a very easy step.

Thumbs up

If the 8830 has it, hopefully an upgrade for the 8800 won't be far behind.
