Default unlocking the 8830

So, does anyone finally know how to unlock the Verizon 8830 (I'm willing to pay a service to do this)? I've been searching and searching with no answers. I need to do this as I'm going to Europe for a few months. Thanks.

Many have wanted and perhaps have tried, but I don't think anyone has succeeded. Several scams out there so be careful.

Also from what I hear, unlocking violates the terms of service with Verizon as well.

It is no longer illegal to unlock your own phone. How ever verizon will most likely not provide the unlock code for you. You must get it some where else.

No one is saying it's illegal.
Verizon has their own internal policies which dictate how their devices can be used. IF (and that's a big IF) they find out that you're using the 8830 in a way that is contradictory to the Terms of Service, they can cancel your account entirely.

I was told by Verizon's Global Roaming department that they do not have the codes to unlock the GSM portion of the 8830. I had met all of the conditions of their unlock policy, but they simply weren't able to unlock it.

I figure I'll try again in a few months...

The 8830 is both CDMA & GSM, so it can/does use SIM cards, especially if you want to use it abroad.
