7100i text messenging

hey i bought a 7100i brand new off of ebay. i switched the sim card from my i580 and everything works great except for texting. i have a text messaging plan for i580 already but do i need something more. Also how do i go about buying ring tones etc. i do not have a browser at the time.

southwestcomm 06-26-2007 09:19 PM

The 7100 does not support SMS messaging. You need to add the Blackberry data plan and the MMS messaging plan.

semfirefighter 06-27-2007 03:05 PM

so if i were to purchase the plans would would that get me as far as text messaging and other things and do you know how much they run. in price that is. thanks

youll be able to text through MMS its about 19.00 to 30 bucks a month depending on the plan you get. To me its not worth it.

semfirefighter 06-27-2007 03:18 PM

What else come's with this data plan?

Dawg 06-27-2007 03:21 PM

I found a list that will allow you to send an email to another phone using an email-like address. I added another email address with the phone number/address combo below to each of my contacts.
I can't remember where I got this. It was found on the web somewhere, and I was smart enough to copy it.

I also use a 7100i, and needed to overcome the lack of SMS. This works in a pinch. I've only used a few of these, so I'm not sure if they all still work.

Yep, that would be correct: email is the one where you can set up your accounts with yahoo, etc.

Once you get your Data Plan, you will have a browser, then you can download ringtones from various websites at that time. Until you get a Data Plan, nothing much there for you to worry about.

Not true of the 7100t. This 7100 does support SMS. It does not support MMS (picture msgs). You need to add text messaging to your plan and/or resend the service books.

Is the 7100i crippled or something?
