Help Please!!!! I own a 8700g and its been fine until now. My USB connection broke... or doesnt seem to work anyway, and I cannot recharge my device or back it up. I installed the Desktop Manager to my PC and couldnt connect via USB. I installed PocketMAC on my Macbook so I could sync via BlueTooth but no luck either. Apparently BlueTooth only works with BB on a PC. I went out an bought a bluetooth adapter for my PC and after 2 hours of troubleshooting I discovered that unless the bluetooth on the PC is a native windows device it will not work either. Please help! Does anyone have any suggestions how I can back up my 340+ contact and content on my device before the battery dies completely??? Please let me know ASAP |
When I purchased my Bluetooth adapter I too was disappointed to find out that the Bluetooth option in the Desktop Manager would only work with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack, meaning I would have to have a Bluetooth device that had native Windows drivers. Then I found a web site that shows how to add your Bluetooth's device information to Windows' bth.inf file. That way Windows will think there is a native driver, and install the Microsoft Bluetooth stack. The web site is here: Sheer Boredom - Getting Bluetooth To Work Hope this helps you get your Bluetooth device working. |
Have you tried recharging from the AC adapter? If your cable is hosed, which is moderately unlikely, any replacement cable should work. |
What version of Desktop Manager do you have installed? Try installing the latest version (4.2) https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...1A3869CDA2FBD8 |
MODs, please merge these two threads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-my-8700g.html |
Thanks for the help! i took it to a repair shop this morning and they fixed it for $70. They just needed to solder my USB jack. Glad I got it fixed! |
Does anyone have a problem selecting option to sync to outlook. Shaded out |

If not--unplug and battery pull to reboot your BlackBerry. Close and reopen DM. Is your BlackBerry plugged via USB Directly to the PC, NOT through a USB hub? Any luck? |
