Hi,

I just purchased a Blackberry 7100G on ebay. I did not come with any software. I want to upload some Microsoft excel files, and PDF files. on the device. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to do this? I am brand new to using a Blackberry. Also this will be used as an international phone. Is there any program i can use that will not use my minutes? I have heard of Google talk , but am not sure of exactly what it is. Thanks All!

You can't upload Excel and PDF files "to" the device, but you can email them to yourself (and thus your BlackBerry), and then save that email for future reference.

If you don't have a BlackBerry Data Plan, you will need to purchase one, otherwise you have a phone with SMS text message ability.

Please explain what kind of program you need that won't use any minutes. If you mean a Instant Message/Chat program, all of them either use SMS messages or data.

I am using the device on a prepaid international sim card. I will not have a data plan or email. I bought the device thinking i could sync it with my computer and upload the pdf/excel files onto it for viewing. The messaging is not extremely important to me. Thanks for the speedy reply also!

Thinking that and doing that are two different matters.

There is not an updated 4.2 OS for the 7100g, or you might could do just that with your files, still you would not be able to open on the BB, if they resided in the memory.

It CAN sync to your PC and keep contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks updated.

good luck.
