Default Question on Media player problems

Please Login to Remove!

Good day all i just purched my Verizon 8830. So i like the phone, but i seem to be having a problem with the Media player. I wish it had book marks but it does not. I listen to audio books from Audible i convert them to mps first and load on to a 2 gig storage card.

1) Lockups or error and media player shuts down.

2) when i go back into the book and try and fast forward with the track ball it moves in increments of like seven min each. Is there a key board short cut to move forward and or back words in Media player.

3) Quite often when i pause and try and go back and listen later there is no sound. The books shows it is playing but so sould.

I have look at Multiplayer i seem to be getting some errors with that as well plays with no sound as well after a pause.

Are there some other mp2 players i should look at...

The software update that Bell has posted, but Verizon has not solved all of my media player problems including your errors in #1 & #3. If you are willing, you can load it on your VZW device, or just wait for Verizon to post it on their site. Hopefully that shouldn't be long.

Regarding #2, I don't know of any better way to move around, and yes, if you are playing a long track (like an audio book) then it will jump in larger increments than on a shorter track.

Is there any risk or downside for loading the Bell version on our Verizon unit? Should we just wait for the Verizon version? Will our Verizon unit look the same after installing the Bell version or will it branded with Bell logo's, etc...

Follow the instructions on the sticky message at the top of this forum. You must delete the vendor.xml file, and if you want it to still look like a Verizon, replace the Blackberry.alx file. Everything else looks pretty much the same on mine.

If you're not comfortable doing this, I would just wait for the VZW version. It can't be long before they post one.

Default Load audible software

I have loaded the new audible software (beta I think for phones) for my 8800 (AT&T) and it works extremely well. I have used for over a month with six different books so far. I have to load my books (only use #4) thru the desk manager software and you have to load them in a file by themselves per the audible software for downloading to your micro sd card. It is not same file as your music is on. The software controls are actually a little easier than the ipod controls to me. I have had to delete and reload a book a couple of times to get it to work properly. Also it will not pause like music when I get a phone call so I have to ask caller to hold while I pause the book.

I use the seidio adapter to make it work with my ipod earpieces and the first was defective and now the second has also started acting up so I have been listening just thru my single phone piece. Will send back to seidio to see if they will replace. It worked well but doesn't see m to be very sturdy.

Good luck with the software download as it was not that hard.

Yeah what's up with the increments of 4-5 minutes on my BB 8800 Cingular? I try watching movies and I can't rewind with precision. Forces you to jump back a few minutes.. fix for this??
