Default AOL Instant Messaging (AIM) on Blackberry 8800

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought a Blackberry 8800 from AT&T and I could swear up and down that it said that the 8800 supports AIM?? I can certainly see that the phone doesn't have AIM anywhere on the phone. SOMEONE please help!! thanks!-Anthony8800

jivetalk has a 30 day free trial.

Ramble is free, but its garbage. its not worth the effort in trying to get it to work.

Try JiveTalk,if you like it, its well worth the $20/$30 you will dish out for it.

its not free. 30 days means 30 days. It registers your PIN.

ramble is the ONLY free app.

Also, look in the aftermarket software section. This has all been posted there countless times.

Jeez. You would think that 30 bucks is going to break the bank. If it's a program that you are going to use a lot (which seems like you are), how about opening the wallet and supporting the devs?? Quit being cheap!

What is the purpose of the OZ messenger that is on my bb8800? I am not sure where it came from but has an aol/yahoo/msn messenger transports on it. I have not yet been able to get it to work for aol, but I thought I read on att that the 8800 is suppose to support aol.

here is a clip from the att site...notice the last line

Included Features
BlackBerry® email, messaging, and organizer in one sleek design
The thinnest full QWERTY BlackBerry® available
Easy-to-use intuitive trackball navigation
Automatic wireless delivery of enterprise or personal email
BlackBerry® Enterprise Server® & BlackBerry® Internet Service® email
View Microsoft® Word, Excel®, PowerPoint®, and Adobe® PDFs
Mobile Instant Messaging - Yahoo!® Messenger, AOL® Instant Messenger, & Windows Live (TM) Messenger (available via download)

so what gives?

If you have unlimited data you are fine ... JiveTalk uses DATA. Some IM clients use SMS to send/recieve your messages and if you don't have an SMS plan that can get really expensive really quickly.

I just purchased Jive Talk last week, even though I already have purchased the latested IM+. I have to say, JiveTalk is very good. The interface is what I like most about it. I've let it run all week and it doesn't appear to drain the battery at all. I used it with YIM and AIM.

At least give it the 30 day trial. That SmartView email is very nice also. Really transforms the email and IM experience I think.

I see Verizon phones do not have access to the program, unless the service books are available.

this is probably easy to answer, but how can i assure myself jivetalk uses DATA...apparently when looking at my bill, it seems to use my Messaging minutes instead of Data
