Default BlackBerry 7230 on VOdafone Italia

Please Login to Remove!

Hi to everyone! I've been given as a gift a not working BB7230, from T-Mobile, with the JVM 105 error. I'm living in Italy, using the Vodafone Italia operator. Is it possible reinstall the OS to work with my provider? I've called the Vodafone Italia Help Desk and they said that's not possible, being the BB locked by original provider (T-Mobile). Should it be true, what does it happen after the OS reinstall? I mean, if I install the OS for a different provider, does the BB works with this specific provider or not? And, moreover, being the fact that Vodafone Italia doesn't releases software upgrade for its customers (I don't know why), could my SIM work the same after installing a Vodafone UK OS (being always a Vodafone customer...)?
Thanks in advance.

Installing an OS from a different provider does NOT unlock it. You can only get it unlocked by asking T-Mobile for the code, or by sending the 7230, with $100USD to in Canada. Changing the software will not unlock it.
