Number of New Messages Incorrect

I am having trouble with one of my email accounts on my 8830. My device says that one email account has two unread messages, yet it doesn't. I thought it was my "saved" messages folder and found two messages in it that didn't show up in my inbox, deleted them, but it still persists.

Usually if you check the account, even without reading ALL new messages, the home screen doesn't reflect a * (star) beside the account- but in this case it still does!

It's getting rather annoying. Anyone have the same experience? I have tried a soft reset, deleting and re-stating the email account, but both did not work.

Thanks,
W

Did you check ALL your folders -- SMS, Phone Call Log (missed calls) etc.?

Yes, none of these folders have unopened messages.
Plus, the number 2 only shows up on my email account icon, not my general mailbox. Strange.

I just deleted and restated the account again and it seems to have gone away? Could this have been because of a filter via my blackberry.com/go/vzw account settings?

I have had these phantom messages once in a while too. Sometimes you can go into "messages" and hit "u' to find the unread message. If that doesn't work I have had to do a battery pull. Other than that, they never went away for me :(

Well, now no new messages are coming in on that Email address!

I JUST submitted a post on this. It appears the way to deal with this is to pull the battery for 30 seconds.

That really sucks. If I've experienced this within 24 hours of owning the phone, how could RIM's QA not pick this up as a bug?

I REALLY love this phone, but I'm starting to worry that even the simple things are going to be hard for the $399 price tag of this phone.
