Default 8703e quirks

Is it possible for a download of a wallpaper to effect the performance of a Blackberry Device? I downloaded a wallpaper from the blackberry help link in the BB browser and after I did so, it seems like my email got quirky, when I select the option to delete from device and mailbox, it wouldn't did it from the server even after a 15 minute window. I've had a myraid of issues when I download anything on my 8703e. Are Blackberries at it's most stable when kept stock? I am using OS version 4.1.0.377 platform 2.2.0.176

I don't see how a wallpaper would effect performance. It is just a picture, that's all.

I had over 15 additional apps on my 8700g (and a couple dozen pictures and wallpapers and extra ringtones), and same on the 8800 and have had no issues at all with performance or stability.

Mine seems to get crazy, when I put anything on it, unless I am watching my device to closely

I did the OTA zen theme, forget about it, it totally killed my push email....lol

I switched to an 8703e after my 8700g died. I can tell you that I'm not happy. The 8703e does have quirks that bother me. It does not work as well as my 8700g did. I do have some extra apps on it (411, Google Maps, etc..., same as 8700g). I never thought to try getting rid of some of them to see if performance improves. I also have some wallpapers so I might try getting rid of some to see if that helps.

The only thing I experienced with my 8703 is when I have a very weak signal (1x), the performance was very sluggish when navigating the home screen and selecting different things. It would take longer than usual to open up each item and sometimes you could see the refresh rate on the screen. I turned off the wireless signal for testing purposes and it would fly through all the items just like when you are on a 1XEV signal.

I don't understand why network signal would matter when navigating the home screen and selecting items that don't require signal.

I had an 8700 through T-Mobile and switched to sprint when contract was up for there EV-DO speed. I have the same apps on my 8703 as I did with my 8703 and the 8703 is still twice as fast with no problems. I've never had any issues with response with my 8703 and I even run gmail app and download walls and games.
