I just purchased my Blackberry 8703e and am impressed with it so far. My questions are:
How do I upload pictures/MP3's/etc. onto my Blackberry?
How do I play MP3's on my Blackberry?
Can I set MP3's as ringtones on my Blackberry?
Thanks for the help.
Sounds like you should have got the 8830 instead of the 8703e. I had an 8703e and I sent pics to my BlackBerry address to get them on there. There isn't a media player on the device.
The 8830 can do all of those things you want to do, right out of the box. I'd suggest you do an exchange.

Not exactly the answer I was looking for. I got this phone from my brother in law for very cheap. I can't sign a new contract at the momment and do not want to spend the rediculous ammount for a new one.
Please, no more "get a different phone" comments. If you have answers to my questions, thank you.
What he is saying is that your device is not capable of playing mp3's. You can set a mp3 as a ringtone. To download it you'll have to host it on the web and download it w/ your bb browser.

Okay. Don't get a different phone. Email pictures that you want to your BlackBerry address. You can't listen to MP3s and to use an MP3 as a ringtone is pretty complicated.
For a complete listing of what your device can and can't do, please refer to this link.

Alright, that makes sense to host it online and then download the MP3's. What do you mean it's complicated to use a MP3 as a ringtone? Btw, I saw something online today that was a program you could download onto your BB that played MP3's. I think it was called Berry Tunes, any idea about that?
No, the process for using an mp3 file as a ringtone is not complicated. Not sure what cwosigns is referring to.
Your device cannot be used as an mp3 player. Berry Tunes (which I've never looked at) would only be available for devices like Pearl and Curve, which are more multimedia-friendly.
I didn't think the process would be that complicated to get pictures on the phone. Thanks for the heads-up about that. I got it figured out and also figured out how to get to the pictures on the phone and view them and such.
What is the process for making your MP3's into ringtones then? Kinda bummed I can't use my BB as an MP3 player but that's fine. I've got a Creative MP3 player anyways that I still need to fix, and this will give me more motivation to fix it. I would just like to be able to set MP3's as ringtones and not have to pay for them like on my old phone. Here is an excellent place to start if you want ringtones that are already available for free:
Alright, so I think I've got it figured out. You can just host the MP3's on a webserver and download them through the internet browser then set them as a ringtone in the "Tunes" section. The problem with playing MP3's on the Blackberry is that it isn't headphones supported, so having a MP3 player on it doesn't seem worth it. Not only can an actual MP3 player play MP3's correctly, but it can also hold much, much more. I guess I shouldn't expect a phone to also be a full use MP3 player. It does handle photos nicely though.
I understand that the newer ones are more multimedia friendly, but even still, I doubt that a BB can do what an actual MP3 player can do. Also, one last question. Is it possible to watch videos or use Flash or Javascript on the BB browser?
FWIW, a standard MP3 uploaded for use as a ringtone is going to sound terrible on your 8700. Search the forums on re-encoding the MP3 - I found step x step instructions (using Audiacity, which is open source). I re-encoded a 20 second clip from a Steve Kimock tune, and it sounds awesome.
