Instead of appearing as envelopes, the messages appear as folder (which I cannot delete).Does anybody know how this setting occurs.

Usually it's because you're on BES and the email went to a subfolder that's being forwarded to your BB. However, you should be able to delete them...

You can enable "Hide Filed Message".
