Default Deleting from outlook but not from BB

Please Login to Remove!

Just taken receipt of a new 8800 (first time BB user) and boy am I happy with it; however, I've noticed that when I'm in the office and I delete e-mails from outlook this does not seem to synchronise with the BB. Can this be done, and if so how is it done?

Thanks

Email doesn't sync on a BB. You will need to delete it both in Outlook and the BB.

On the BB, email goes to the main folder and to a folder assigned to that account. When you delete it in one place, it delete it in both, but you still need to delete it in Outlook.

Thanks for the note. I note that when I delete an item on the BB it automatically does the same, albeit not immediately, in outlook. I was just wondering why this didn't happen in reverse. Again, thanks for the note. All the best

Are you using BES or BIS?

True but it should reconcile on BES. I personally prefer maintaining my email in Outlook and on the BB separately (using the filing ability from the BB and periodically purging folders on the BB) so I'm not much help in this case.

If you're using BES email will reconcile both directions if you change a default setting on your BB.

Messages -> Options -> General Settings: set 'Delete On' to 'Mailbox and Handheld'.

If your BES is v4.0, then the sync won't happen if you permanently delete a message in Outlook or if you move the message to an archive folder.

If your BES is v4.1, then I am pretty sure it will still sync if permanently deleted or moved to archive.

As a new BB user, can you inform me as to how I can check my BES version?

Having just checked the setting I can confirm that 'Mailbox and Handheld' had already been selected. I'm not sure about the BES version (see my previous post also) so how can I check this? Thanks.

You'll have to check with your BES Admin.

Thanks much. This is a great tip and fixed this problem.

Will BIS behave the same way with this proper setting? Mine works if I delete from the BB, it'll delete from Outlook/Exchange Server, but if I delete it from Exchange it will not reconcile to the BB. Anyone run into that?

BB is up and running. Excellent advice that is very much appreciated.

This answer won't help you, but further to my most recent post highlighting that the settings had made things 'good to go' were incorrect - it appeared that our IT guys in the office made the wrong call, so I'm back to square one the same as your good self. I'm with O2 so I intend on calling them today to hopefully have this resolved, if at all possible.
