Default "Redirection will stop if you exit"

I'm having an issue with redirection. I am using the desktop redirector.

Redirection does not function unless I have the BDM> Email Settings> Status open.

When I have it open redirection works no problem. WHen I close it redirection stops and my inbox fills up with RIM messages with the ETP.DAT attachment.

I have the option checked for Hide when minimized, however the status window has no minimize option, only the X to close.

When I close it tells me "Redirection will stop if you exit" and it is absolutely correct, when I close redirection does stop.

Also, BDM says disabled when I do not have my device connected via USB, which I think is normal, but might be worth mentioning.

Any ideas?

I'd highly recommend not using Redirector but that's probably not what you're looking for.

I'm looking for something that works.

I'm new to the BB, so what the options? My org doesn't support BES.

Does that mean I have no options?
