Default Which do you prefer, 7100T or 7290?

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to decide between the 7100T and the 7290 and can't make up my mind. I like the small form factor of the 7100 and the bigger screen and full keyboard of the 7290. Has anyone tried both and which did you prefer.

Thanks

7290!

the 7100 aint bad, but the full keyboard is a must for me so I choose and chose the 7290. I think the 7100 has a few ups on the 7290 though

Ditto. The 7100 is a great form factor, but the 7290 works so much better in the sunlight (which REALLY bothered me on the 7100). I miss the form factor and speakerphone, but the two stage backlighting and full keyboard more than make up for it. 7290 all the way.

I'd like to frankenstein them - 7100g with the 7290 qwerty keyboard.

However we dont have that choice, so its the workhorse for me - 7290

7100>>>Phone with Blackberry
72xx,77xxx>>>Blackberry with phone.

It is really a matter of personal preference. I like them both but for me (when I can afford the upgrade) the 7290 is all me.

7290 hands down, the 7100 is a slick device if your in need a "phone first" with email capability Blackberry. For myself the larger keyboard and screen are a must.

For me, a person who doesn't use the BB for writing a lot of e-mails, it is all about the 7100. The phone works great and the form factor doesn't make me feel like a twat when I pull it out at a pub to answer a call from a user at 2 AM.

I agree with Grifter....for someone who doesn't use the BB for writing lots of e-mails, 7100 is the one! There is no such thing is a perfect one for everyone....there are give and takes in everyone of 'em

I'm with dkhanal and Grifter. Rarely compose anything from the BlackBerry, so I appreciate the form-factor of the 7100. If I got some value out of the full-sized keyboard, it'd make it easier for me to deal with the bulk, but ...

7100 screen is definately hard (if not impossible) to read outdoors, but I prefer it over the 7290 indoors. Then again, I'm almost blind.

On the lighter side, our CEO got a 7100t a few weeks ago. He placed a helpdesk call recently to have us come configure it so that he could read the screen outside. He thought there was a setting misconfigured or something. mwah We have him the option to switch back to a 7730 or 7290 but he said he really preferred the 7100 size and would be able to deal with the sun issue. :D Hopefully they have a better outdoor screen on their next "smaller sized" product!

I like my 7100t because it fits in my pocket better. I've forced myself to type on the 7100t and am actually faster then the predictive typing sometimes, so much so I actually get input errors sometimes and it forces me to pause and wait for it to catch up.

I really hate the suretype....I mean really hate it....yesterday I ordered the 7290 as it has the same phone as the 7100 and a full keyboard....

I am tired of sending out e-mail with "garbage" words in it.

I've had my 7100 for a week. The not being able to see it outdoors really bothers me as well. I am going to trade mine for another one. Anyone know which is better for seeing outdoors, the 7290 or the IPAQ H6315? I can't believe the industry hasn't worked this problem out. Other than not being able to see the thing when I am outside (I am a roofer so it is most of the time) I love the phone.

Same toss up for me as well. I already had a Moto BT headset from my MPX so I wanted either the 7290 or 7100. Wasnt sure which one to get right up to the point when I called Cingular to order one. Then finally decided to go with the 7100g. I just cant deal with putting a laptop to my face each time I want to call someone. Besides, I'm more of an email reader/web browser than composer. So far the 7100 is perfect. Feels so light, its lighter than my MPX. And my BT headset works like a charm.

7290 ALL THE WAY! I have not given up my Motorola v505 yet so I use my BB for E-Mail. One day I will let go of the phone and use only the BB but I am not ready to do that yet.

I prefer the size/form factor of the 7100t. I have been using it since Nov 04 and have gotten really fast with the keyboard.

I think it would take a while to get used to the other keyboard especially to dial numbers.

The added bulk is a negative to me with the 7290

the size was a problem for me when i got my first bb. Being a person who uses phones that are almost impossible to see because they are so small ( i hate carrying things around), the BB 7290 was an awkward monster. But after time and a HS810, I wouldnt trade it for the world. Ok well maybe that!

The 7290 was not a candidate for me. My choices were 7100g or Treo 650. The weight + camera + well documented hard/software problems of the Treo sent me to the 7100g. It's the perfect device for me. It took me two days to learn to type, and I get about two suretype errors a week (not counting are<->see).

The screen stinks outside. If that's a factor, avoid the 7100.

LOL ... are<->see drives me bonkers. I think I need to do a custom word for one of them.

Question 7100t to 7290?

I currently have a 7100t and I love it, however I have had it for some time and I am considering an upgrade to the 7290. Does anyone know if the T-Mobile version has an IM client like the 7100t?
