Question Unlocked 8700c not working w/ T-Mo SIM

Please Login to Remove!

I have an unlocked 8700c and have installed my T-Mobile SIM. The SIM is detected and I can see my SIM info displayed correctly. However the 8700c is still pointing to the Cingular network. I have tried changing the network manually but when a network search/scan is performed, Cingular is the only network returned as the selection.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

If a scan only shows Cingular as an available network... that means Cingular is the only available network. Does your TMo SIM work in that same geographic to pick up the TMo network?

Yes, it works well with all other T-Mo devices.

Well, I don't know an answer offhand. Being unlocked has nothing to do with whether you get a TMo signal, so that doesn't matter.

Honestly, it truly sounds like a coverage issue. Can you change your location and try it somewhere else?

No, were that the case, he would get an on-screen message of "invalid SIM", i believe.

Correct, and you won't be able to see any available networks

You were correct on your first response! I took the 8700 to a different location, reseated the SIM and powered on the device. The T-Mo "edge" appered by the antena icon and I can now send and receive phone calls.

Cheers!
