Default Unlocked BB 8800 - wasted my money?

Please Login to Remove!

My boss asked me to order an unlocked 8800. I nuked my device with the BES and discovered this OS download page after being unable to load the device again: Latest Operating System Available For Each Blackberry Device

How is loading the OS onto a nuked device related to the locked/unlocked status? I'm pretty sure I know the answer already, but to be sure.

Thanks!

I really don't know what you consider a "nuked" device. To me that means, dead as a brick, fried, ain't no life left in it.

Notwithstanding, "unlocked" is in no way related to loading the OS. Unlocked only relates to the status of the BB being open to use on carriers other than it is branded for. For example, a branded TMo 8800 must be unlocked to use on the ATT network.

You can load any carrier OS for that specific BB model, and it does not effect anything, nor its unlocked status.

Does that make sense, I tried.

Default Nuked

Thanks for the info. "Nuke Device" is actually the menu option in the Blackberry Manager. It's presented as one of three options to prepare a device for redistribution. I nuked it and and then when I chose the next item in the procedure: "Load Device (interactive)", it wasn't available....but I found the OS download page, so all is well.
