I'm wondering if anyone has information regarding international roaming in Jamaica. I've contacted VZW, and they claim that voice services will work when a phone is provisioned with their iDial service, but they 'can not guarantee' that data services will work.

I've done some googling, and determined that Digicel and MiPhone both offer CDMA services (some even EVDO!) in Jamaica.

Has anyone been able to successfully use data services on a CDMA-only BB in Jamaica (specifically Montego Bay)?

I can care less about internet access, but I need my email, and I really don't want to be forced to upgrade to the POS 8830 - I really hate it!

If there is a CDMA network there, call Verizon to see if a roaming aggreement is in place.

That's what I've done. There are voice services. With iDial added to my phone, I will be able to send/receive calls @ $1.29/minute. They have advised that they 'can not guarantee' that data services will work.

I'm looking for anyone who can give me an idea if my data services will actually work while I'm there. My hope is that someone who either has local knowledge or who has gone to Montego Bay lately will read this and let me know what to expect. If I can't find anything out, or learn that data services won't work, I'm going to have to switch to an 8830 for the 2 weeks I'll be in Jamaica which I really don't want to do since I've already tried one and hated it.
