Exclamation Blackberry contacts automatically loaded to Outlook?

Please Login to Remove!

I got my Blackberry 8830 last week and transferred all my contacts from my LG cell phone to the Blackberry.

Yesterday, the tech guy at my office set up my Blackberry through the BES so I can see my office calendar, tasks, and email on the Blackberry.

Today I looked at my Outlook contacts on my office computer, and all of my personal phone numbers had been automatically loaded onto Outlook at my office.

Here are my questions:

1) If I delete all the contacts from Outlook, will they be deleted from my Blackberry?
2) How can I prevent my Blackberry from sending all of my personal contacts to my WORK Outlook Contacts list?

Thanks for your help!

BES Automatically synchs them. Yes, if you delete them from Outlook they will disappear from the BlackBerry. I don't know much about BES so you will have to wait for someone with more expertise to answer the "can I keep them seperate". I think keeping anything seperate and private is impossible once you are on BES.

You can turn off wireless synchronization just for your address book if you want, but then it won't synch in either direction. It's under address book options.

You can also have your BES admin change your setting on BES to do "Unidirectional - Synchronize Server to Handheld". That will only push from Exchange to BB, but not the other way around. In BES it's under PIM Sync tab->Address Book Tab.

I went to the Wireless Synchronization and changed it from "Yes" to "No". Now, if I delete something from Outlook, will it delete from the Blackberry too?

How do I get to the PIM Sync tab?

I really appreciate your quick reply!

If you turn of wireless synch on the BB it should not synch wirelessly at all. Try adding or deleting one in Outlook that you don't care about to be sure. I've never actually tried this and would hate to give bad advice.

The Pim Sync tab is in BES. Only your BES administrator can make that change for you.

I turned off the Wireless Sync. I deleted everything from my Outlook contacts at work. The contacts remained on my Blackberry.

A few days later, my BES Administrator made the change for me. I then turned Wireless Sync "On" again. It works! All of my new work contacts are going from Outlook to the Blackberry. NONE of my personal/family/friend contacts are going from my Blackberry to my work Outlook.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
